Bank of Hawaii Harmon Branch – Typhoon Damage Repairs
The repair of the Bank of Hawaii Harmon Branch was a project undertaken by Black Construction that was the start of a significant image makeover towards the Bank’s repositioning in the marketplace. Visually, one could never imagine what the final product would look like, given the conditions that existed after the wrath of Typhoon Pongsona swept through the building.
Contractual phases included the following:
- Demolition
- Repair, Relocation and Rebuild
- Finishing
- Furniture, Fixtures and Electrical
- Cleanup
- Punch list
- Handover to bank
Black Construction performed 85% of the overall work. The balance was performed by GMS Painting (Guam) LLC, Kautz & Sons Glass Co., Inc. and AMS for the typhoon shutters. Advance Management undertook the mold remediation work.
Given the very tight construction schedule of 150 days, a very unique process of communication was established where all correspondence was conducted through e-mail with the intent to meet the schedule using as close to as possible, real time contact.
This method broke traditional protocol whereby all parties could contact each other direct at any time, as long as all members of the project team were copied.
